Award prototype for Art Directors Guild.
I made this prototype for the ADG Awards competition,
where members submitted design ideas for the look of the Guild's Award.
My concept was to produce an award statue that would reflect the craft
and some of the material components used in that craft. ( wood, glass,
metal, stone) The brush flowing into the film strip, which shown here
in a brass finish, could alternatively be in glass / resin, also another
surface to engrave.
While I'm not suggesting my particular design should have been the winner, as there were other submissions that had style and some flourish to them, but for an award that is supposed to represent the Art in the Art Directors Guild, it seemed unfortunate to me that the winning design, which was a small glass block looking more like a paperweight than a trophy, was selected above all others to represent an Artistic guild.
