General Mills - Cereal Walk
This scenario is always a challenge when action has to take place in a real supermarket. Made even more tricky shooting in an operational store while people are shopping (we couldn't do a night shoot because of child actors). The spot was about nutrition and variety, so we had to establish a whole lot of cereal. The agency only made 3 of each cereal as hero color correct so we had to use off the shelf product to fill around it. Problem with the off the shelf products are that they do not look like the color corrects because of advertising printed on them, or simply because they are not as "clean". The solution was to have a lot of additional fronts and sides printed that we stuck on regular boxes. The arrangement in columns of two showed enough variety in the framing. I also bought a bunch of clip on shelf edging that I had printouts to insert so that the look was cleaner.
Areas with non cereal product we used other General Mills goods.

The above images show a Sketchup model of the store area where we would shoot with some of the storyboarded angles. I made all of the cereal boxes with the hero artwork wrapped on them. Also shows ideas for hanging signage and "shelf talkers". The use of depth of field in the renders helps show real world control of the shots. Being able to play with product arrangements on the shelf made it easier to determine how we dressed it. You can see 3 products wide here, but the bottom left shows the 2 wide version we eventually went with.
