H&R Block

This round of commercials for H&R Block was based on testimonials from H&R Block employees. By listening to their stories we were able to come up with visual ideas to support their stories.  The first part was to shoot the interviews and then leave some time for editing before the second part of the shoot to capture the visuals.  Below are a few samples from the many scenarios we shot.  The decision to go with a black and white look gives them a distinctive style and makes the green branding pop.

The Magician

Picture
Making your debts to the IRS go away is as easy as making an elephant disappear. Actor and Elephant were shot as separate elements and combined in post.  This allowed for combining best performances and syncing bowing etc. Puff of smoke was also shot as elements and overlaid in post.

Early design ideas were for full color and and more complete sets. This ultimately got simplified with both the B&W look and minimal sets.

Paperwork

Picture
"Bring it on", He's happy to sort out your boxes of paperwork, no matter how much you have.
With this in mind we came up with a man buried in an infinite plane of paperwork.
We created a platform into which he could rise up into through a hole.  All the paperwork, receipts etc. had to be manufactured so that there were no identifying logos etc.
