The concept for the interviews was to achieve a very shallow depth of field. The out of focus elements beyond would just suggest the school space we were supposed to be in. We made a series of set elements that would roll around and position to camera. These could easily be changed for each interview subject . These elements were far back beyond the subject and so were quite blurred (as planned in the Sketchup model) with the resulting Bokeh effects etc. Small mirrors and other reflective elements were also introduced to create specific pops of blurred light here and there.

Sketchup drawing of set pieces arranged in one of many configurations with 3D woman. Camera lens specified. As Sketchup cannot show depth of field it is necessary to render the model - see right.
Picture
This is the same Sketchup drawing from the left rendered in v-ray with depth of field enabled to give a sense of how the set could photograph.

The following were short films/commercials of successful UoP students.
